linden
tilia americana
Made uniquely VELVETY from the starches it contains, linden tea is something sent from above.
With a long history of use as a nervine, linden contains a sedative essential oil called farnesol that relaxes the cardiovascular system, alleviating stress & anxiety so there is more room for calm focus. This also helps to curb insomnia and elevate mood. When it’s time to unplug, or when feeling irritable, linden’s got your back.
The sticky, soothing mucilage that results from a water extraction of linden blossoms softens membranes that have been irritated by coughing & other cold & flu symptoms, while also DECREASING MUCUS PRODUCTION. She’s mutifaceted & she comes with PEACE. In fact, you can find old, wise linden trees in many European town squares, because until just a few centuries ago, justice was deliberated upon beneath linden trees under the believe that the tree helped to distill the truth. Verdicts would be titled ‘sub tilia’, or under linden.
We harvest ours in the wild in northern Vermont, usually in July.*
