gingko biloba

Gingko leaves harvested at Full Bloom Farm in Hyde Park, VT.

The OG of OGs. Gingko is a living fossil- dating back over 225 MILLION years, its the OLDEST plant species alive. One gingko tree growing less than a mile from Hiroshima’s epicenter not only survived the atomic blast, but is still thriving today. They can live for more than a millennia. Seems like a good plant to derive some herbal medicine from.

A circulatory tonic with an affinity for the extremities, gingko supports MICROCIRCULATION IN THE BRAIN; something that boasts a PLETHORA OF BENEFITS. First off, this elevates cognitive function, improving attention span, memory & focus. For those navigating Alzheimer’s, Dementia & Parkinson’s Disease, gingko can help to slow the rate of cognitive decline. By relaxing blood vessels & upping blood flow in the brain, gingko can help to soften & alleviate headaches and migraines. A nervine, it’s also supportive when navigating depression and anxiety.

Gingko is a great thing to take when considering eye health & vision, as it BOOSTS BLOOD FLOW TO THE EYES. This is helpful in slowing macular generation & when dealing with glaucoma.

We blend it with gotu kola, lion’s mane and rosemary in our Razor Sharp tincture, & always have it on deck when studying, doing extensive computer work & during long drives.

You can find cultivated gingko trees in many parks, or on public grounds. For optimal potency, leaves should be harvested in the fall as they start to loose their color & fall from the tree. We get ours from Full Bloom Farm, in Hyde Park, VT.*
